Today we begin our chronological journey through the Holy Land, tracing the steps of the ancient Israelites. We will visit Mt. Karkom (the real Mt. Sinai) and the Wilderness of Paran. At Timna, we will experience a model of the ancient Tabernacle. Dinner and lodging will be provided in Eliat.
We will begin the day early with a morning drive to the border between Israel and Jordan. Today’s sites will include Petra, half-built, half-carved into the rock, and surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. It is one of the world’s most famous archaeological sites, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with Hellenistic architecture. At Wadi Rum, we will see the site made famous by Lawrence of Arabia. It is truly one of the world’s most impressive desert landscapes. We will enjoy dinner and overnight in Petra.
This morning, a spectacular vista awaits us as we view the Promised Land from Mt. Nebo as Moses did in Deuteronomy 34. We will continue to Madaba and Jerash. Best known for its spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics, Madaba is home to the famous 6th-century Mosaic Map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. Jerash is considered one of the largest and most well-preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world outside of Italy. Its history goes back more than 6,500 years. Dinner will be served, and we will spend the night in Amman.
Today’s adventure will include an early morning drive from Amman to Sheik Hussein border control. After crossing the Jordan River, we will continue up the Jordan Valley to Beit Shean and Sussita. We will be inspired at several biblically significant sites around the Sea of Galilee, including Capernaum, Magdala, Mt. of Beatitudes, Sussita, Korazim, and Bethsaida. At Yardenit, you will have the option of being baptized in the Jordan River. Robes are available for rent at the site. We will enjoy dinner and overnight in Galilee.
Our Galilean adventure with visits to the biblically significant sites of Tel Hazor, Tel Dan, and Caesarea Philippi, the setting where Jesus instituted His church. After a tour of the Golan Heights, we will have dinner and spend our final night in Galilee.
Before departing Galilee, we will visit Jesus’ childhood home of Nazareth (Mt. Precipice overlook
Nazareth. Other sites include Megiddo (overlooking the Valley of Armageddon), Mt. Carmel (where Prophet Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal), and Caesarea Maritima (the site of the first Gentile Christian conversion and Paul’s imprisonment). From there, we will travel up to Jerusalem where we will have dinner and overnight for the remainder of our trip.
We will spend the day in Jerusalem, the golden. The awe-inspiring sites will include the Mt. of Olives, Garden of Gethsemane, Kidron Valley, the Eastern Gate, Stations of the Cross, Church of the Holy Sepulcher, Mt. Zion, and the Western Wall.
On the final day of our pilgrimage, we will visit the Dead Sea, with time to float. Also on the day’s itinerary are visits to Qumran (Dead Sea Scrolls), the old Jericho Road overlook, the City of David, and Bethlehem. Late checkout from the hotel is guaranteed, along with dinner.
